Meatza is the new pizza! Blended with Italian seasoning and spices, our One-Point Barbecue Chicken Meatza substitutes the typical carb-laden flour pizza crust for lean chicken breast or turkey. This version with a barbecue twist is similar in taste to California Pizza Kitchen’s famous barbecue chicken pizza. Our version uses sugar-free barbecue sauce, fat-free mozzarella cheese along with some cilantro, which, of course, is optional. Check out our original meatza recipe: One-Point Meatza Pizza Crust.

One-Point Barbecue Chicken Meatza

Combining the flavors of barbecue and pizza in one dish, this One-Point Barbecue Chicken Meatza can be made with ground chicken or (more conveniently) with ground turkey. The ground meat substitutes for a traditional pizza crust. Serve with a green salad.

  • 2 lbs. ground chicken breast can substitute with extra lean ground turkey breast
  • 1 red onion, finely chopped
  • 1/3 cup liquid egg white or equivalent
  • 1/3 cup whole wheat panko bread crumbs
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp Italian herbs
  • 1/2 cup sugar-free barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 cup Kraft fat-free shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/3 cup fresh cilantro, to taste



  1. Preheat oven to 400° F. Line a large pizza pan with foil. Generously coat pan with olive oil cooking spray (or similar).

  2. In a large bowl, combine ground meat, onion, egg, panko crumbs, and seasoning. Mix well.

  3. Take the mound of meatza "dough" and press into the pizza pan, using your hands to spread to the edges.

  4. Bake in the oven for 30-40 minutes. Remove and gently drain juices. Set aside.

  5. In a small bowl, blend the barbecue and pizza sauces until well combined. Set aside.

  6. Top the meatza with the sauce and the cheese. Return to the oven for 5-8 minutes, until the cheese is melted.

  7. Remove from oven and use a pizza slicer to cut.
